Our Recycling Commitment continues with CircuPUR.be

PU foam cans are increasingly used in the construction industry and, once empty, create large amounts of waste.

At the initiative of the producers and Valipac, CircuPUR now offers a practical solution to collect this waste directly on the sites and take it to a recycling plant. This system is part of the Clean Site System, which is already well established in the construction industry for the collection and recycling of plastic film.

Collaboration

The CircuPUR collection system was created thanks to BBF, Bostik, Briqueteries Ploegsteert, DETIC, DL Chemicals, Dumoulin Bricks, IKO, Max Pro, Novatech, Rectavit, Soudal, TKK, Tremco CPG and Wienerberger.

CircuPUR works according to the principle of reverse logistics: for a purchase price of €1/bag, contractors obtain collection bags from the participating points of sale, deposit their empty foam cans in them and return the filled bags. CircuPUR then organises the collection of the bags via a specialised collector, as well as their transport to a licensed recycling plant.

A responsible commitment from producers

With CircuPUR, the participating producers take responsibility for managing the end-of-life of the PU foam cans they put on the market. They finance the system so that the collected foam cans can be maximized and reduce the environmental impact of the construction sector. A financial contribution of 11 cents per foam can is invoiced to the users.

The participating points of sale will receive supporting communication material to actively promote the system to their customers, and the brands involved will be recognisable by the CircuPUR.be logo on their foam cans.
