Production Line Audits

Working with you, our Offsite Experts can conduct a free onsite assessment to understand your performance objectives and observe your manufacturing processes. By conducting this walk through, the team can identify solutions to draw more sustainable and environmental practices.

The Tremco CPG Offsite Solutions team worked with a major customer to assess their processes across three sites to identify solutions to reduce waste and maximise efficiency. The walk through identified 50 products were being used form a large number of suppliers which brought the expected problems associated such as compatibility issues. As a result of the work from the Offsite Solutions team, this customer now sources 17 compatible products, from a single source supplier.

Having compatible products saves on the potential of product wastage, however they also reaped additional benefits, saving costs on administration and having streamlined product quality traceability.

Production Processes

Many additional benefits can be reaped alongside waste reduction, including cost savings. By applying the same process to multiple assembly lines, the same benefits waste reduction and cost saving benefits can be achieved. This replication not only minimises material waste, but also streamlines operations reducing overproduction and imperfect products.

Switching Packaging

Changing packaging formats can significantly reduce product waste and enhance cost efficiency. When a product is packaged in 310 ml cartridges, it can be challenging to extract all of the contents, leading to unnecessary waste.

Transitioning to foil packs offers a more sustainable alternative, as they allow for easier product extraction and compress to less than 10% of the size of a cartridge once empty. This not only minimises leftover product but also drastically reduces the volume of packaging waste generated.

Sub Assembly Process

Sub-assembly is an effective strategy for reducing waste in manufacturing processed and is very much effective in Offsite Construction. By breaking down production into smaller, manageable stages, imperfect builds can be identified and addressed early, minimising the amount of material that needs to be discarded. These combined benefits lead to less material waste, lower production costs, and a more sustainable manufacturing operation.
